 Nina Betz, Contributing Columnist Gathering my courage like daddy taught us, I open my eyes and move toward the light showing underneath the door. I ease it open and listen intently, unaware of my bare feet on the icy floor. Not a sound. A dim light glowing at the end of a long shadowy hallway beckons me. Running soundlessly past closed doors toward the light, I come to some stair. Feeling along the wall, I inch myself down to the next level only to find another hallway, ...
