GERING — Monument Business and Professional Women recognized Stephanie Black as their “Woman of the Year.“ The honor is based on her outstanding contributions and support of women of all ages in our community.

Stephanie is currently the United Way of Western Nebraska Director. In her current role she oversees the fund-raising and fund distribution that provides support for 19 non-profit organizations. In Stephanie’s first year in this position, the annual goal was exceeded, which will also increase the funding for the agencies that provide support and services to many people in our community.

BPW also selected their Young Careerist for 2012. Dr. Natasha Jenkins Long is a Doctor of Optometry with Scottsbluff Vision Clinic, graduating first from Hastings College and then from the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry.

Recognizing outstanding young women for accomplishments in their careers and contributions to their communities has been a BPW objective since the YC program was first instituted in the early 1960s.
