 Gering boxers Darius Medina and Daniel Cardona prepare for their upcoming bouts. Daniel is new to boxing but says he enjoys it “because it’s something I’ve never done before.” His father and personal trainer, Mark Cardona, says “Daniel likes the challenge and is showing a lot of potential.” The City of Scottsbluff and the Guadalupe Center have worked together for years to develop a program helping neighborhood kids stay out of trouble. In 2000, the Guadalupe Center realized the need for another building to house the growing interest in boxing. The Guadalupe Boxing Club was formed and a new building was erected.
