![]() Photo by Jerry Purvis/Gering Citizen Gering Citizen Publisher Lisa Betz recently picked up her silver commemorative coin for Gering’s 125th birthday. The Citizen plans to use the coin as a future contest prize. With her is Mayor Ed Mayo. Both silver and copper commemorative coins are now available at the Gering city offices. The sterling silver coins are $125 and the copper coins are $10, plus sales tax. Anyone who prepaid for the sterling coin, be sure to bring your certificate with you to city hall. Only 125 silver coins were struck, but they are still available for sale by calling the city at (308) 436-5096. For stamp collectors, the Gering Post Office will have a 125th commemorative cancellation stamp available on July 13 and November 30.
