Good Evening friend!
The first Golden Spade winner for 2012
June 15, 2012
The first Golden Spade winner for 2012 is Kathleen Roehl of 3130 8th Ave. in Scottsbluff. Already her yard is looking like a picture. The landscaping is stretched throughout the front and side yard beautifully.

Kathleen bought her home in 2004 and has done a fabulous job in a very short time. When she moved in, she had to remove very scraggly trees and bushes, as well as replace the sidewalk with a series of steps.

She has added Calgary Carpet Junipers and Red Barron Crabapple trees to the northeast corner. She also displays ornamental grasses there. There are perennials, assorted Penstemons, Jupiter’s Beard, Missouri Primrose, Veronica, Agastache, Autumn Joy Sedum, Coral Bells, Dianthus and Salvia.

The front yard consists of a Mops Mugo Pine, Blue Avena Grass, assorted Penstemons, Shasta Daisy, Veronica, Solidago and Rudbeckias. Also found are a variety of roses, flowering trees and shrubs.

As the weeks go by, this yard will get fuller and even more beautiful, so be sure to drive by and take a look.
Please contact Keep Scottsbluff-Gering Beautiful at 632-4649 or 635-3862 to nominate a yard in the tri-cities area. The weekly winners receive a $10 gift certificate from Village Garden Center and 10 percent off at Gering Garden Center.

In addition to the traveling Golden Spade, winners receive a beautiful sunflower stepping stone from Keep Scottsbluff-Gering Beautiful.
