Good Afternoon friend!
Get down and dirty with Mud Volleyball
July 12, 2012 Elizabeth Gross
Bust out the shorts and get your spike on at the first Mud Volleyball Tournament during this year’s Oregon Trail Days. In celebration of Gering’s 125th the new event was added to the Oregon Trail Days event lineup. The tournament will take place at Five Rocks Amphitheater on Saturday, July 14, at noon.

The committee was looking for new ways to celebrate Gering’s birthday at this year’s Oregon Trail Days. Oregon Trail Days committee member Rebecca Shields came up with the idea after watching a mud volleyball tournament at an out of town festival. City crews have been working to get the Five Rocks area ready for all the Oregon Trail Day festivities, and part of their to-do list was to create two holes large enough for volleyball courts. When it gets closer to the event these courts will be filled with water, thus creating the mud desired for the event.

Trophies will be bestowed on the winners and possibly the top three teams. There is also a cash prize for the team that wins overall. The registration fee is $40 per team. Teams can have as many players as they want there but there will only be six playing at a time. The only rule is that there must at least be two females on each team.
