From the Superintendent’s Desk: Welcome to new certified staff

The beginning of the 2012-2013 school year gives us a chance to welcome new certified staff members to our district. Please take this opportunity to get to know the new staff in our district. New certified staff members in each building and their assignments for this year are:

Lynn Lupomechhas received her Master’s degree in Accounting and Education and has attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Doane College in Crete, NE and the Metropolitan State College in Denver Colo. Lupomech has served as a Business Teacher for Big Springs Public Schools, Daniel J. Gross High School in Omaha, Central City Public Schools, Elkhorn Public Schools and most recently at St. Vrain Valley School District at Silver Creek High School in Longmont, Colo. Lupomech will be the Business Teacher at Gering High School.

Ryan Bosche has earned his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from the University of Wyoming in Laramie and has also attended Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, Ill. and Chadron State College. Bosche student taught at Mitchell High School and has been employed at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. Bosche will serve as the Art Teacher at the High School.

Brittany Dutton received her BS degree from Chadron State College and also attended Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. Dutton has served as a paraprofessional at ESU#13, a teacher at Calvary Lutheran School of Early Childhood, a teacher at Kid’s First Preschool and Daycare, and as a teacher for CAPWN. Dutton will be a Special Education Teacher at Northfield Elementary, where she student taught during the 2011-2012 school year.

Calico Cowan will be a Special Education Teacher at the Freshman Academy. Cowan attended college at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyo., Western Nebraska Community College and Chadron State College to receive her BS degree in Elementary and Special Education. Cowan student taught at Lincoln Elementary during the 2011-2012 school year.

Jessica Boswell has received her Bachelor’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Mathematics from Tennessee State University and also attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. Boswell has served as a Middle School Math Instructor for the Dallas Independent School District and will be the Jr. High Math Teacher.

Justin Reinmuth has served as Gering’s TCAP Alternative Teacher since 2010 and has also served the district as a Summer School Teacher. Reinmuth student taught for Mitchell Public Schools and received his BS in Elementary Education from Chadron State College. Reinmuth also attended WNCC. He will serve as the district’s Career/High Ability Learners Teacher.

Kelly Tofflemire, who previously served as the district’s Elementary Computer Teacher, has accepted the position of 6th Grade Teacher at Northfield Elementary. Tofflemire received his BA from Hastings College and also attended Chadron State College. He student taught at Morton Elementary in Hastings, Neb. Tofflemire has worked as a 5th Grade Teacher for Spencer-Naper Public Schools and as Director of Technology for Kimball Public Schools.

Glen Koski has been hired to be the district’s Activities Director. Koski attended Midland Lutheran College where he received his BA degree in Business Administration and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he later received his M.Ed degree in Business Education. Koski also received an endorsement in Administration, PK-8 at Wayne State College. Koski has numerous years and extensive experience in coaching at all levels served as the Activities Director for both Humphrey St. Francis and Stanton Public Schools.

Nathan Hurley received his Master degree from the University of South Dakota and will serve as the English Teacher at the High School. Hurley student taught for Sioux City West Middle School in Iowa and has worked as an Adjunct English Instructor at Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Gene Russel will serve as the district’s Elementary Computer Teacher. Russel is a graduate from Gering High School and attended college at Chadron State College and at the University of Wyoming at Laramie. Russel has served as a basketball director for Camp Wah-nee in Torrington, Ct., as a basketball manager for the University of Wyoming in Laramie and a PE and Health Teacher in Sheridan, Wyo.
Gering Public Schools is very fortunate to have such quality teachers join our school system.
