On Saturday, January 15, the Mitchell Tigers boys basketball hosted the Bridgeport Bulldogs, and the Tigers held on for a comfortable, double-digit victory, 46 – 32. “The boys are learning a lot about themselves and their capabilities as the season progresses,” said Nick Broz, Bridgeport’s boy’s basketball coach. “Against a good Mitchell squad the boys competed and executed well enough for the first three quarters. Freshman Kaleb DeCora led Bridgeport in scoring with 11 points, followed by Dylon Busskohl with seven points, Jame Galvan with five points, and Trevor Blomenkamp with four points. Mitchell now sits at 10 wins versus two losses for the season, and it showed that it is one to be reckoned with this year. Hunter Dittbenner led the Tigers with 13 points, followed by Edgar Rodriquez with 12 points, Randy Shields with nine points, and Richard Burke with five points. “ Poor defensive rebounding, shot selection, and defensive transition in the fourth period contributed to us not finishing the comeback,” said Broz. I believe we are starting to figure out the importance of concentration and attention to detail.” Scoring: Mitchell (10 – 2) 14 12 5 15 - 46 Bridgeport (3 - 9) 5 14 8 5 - 32 Read more by Randy Sides |
