Sugar Valley Rally announces winners

GERING - The 23rd annual Sugar Valley Rally rolled to a conclusion at Cozad’s Antique Ford Garage in Gering on Sunday. In rally scoring, a perfect time is zero. While no participant matched the preset ideal time, several were close and won the prize money.

In the Limited Pro class, first place went to Pete and Pete Wylie of Scottsbluff in their 1933 Hupmobile, with a time of one minute, .06 seconds. In second place was Norm and Eldon Strong of Mitchell and Denver, Colo. in their 1938 Ford Model A and a time of one minute, 2.05 seconds. Third place went to Virgil and Carol Baker of Wheatland, Wyo. in their 1930 Ford Model A, with a time of one minute, 12 seconds.

In the Limited class, Ken and Kenny Manka of Minatare took first place in their 1931 Ford Model A and a time of one minute, 37.28 seconds. Bobby and Jule Bolander of Kingwood, Texas was in second place in their 1934 Dodge with a time of one minute, 54.55 seconds. Third place went to Matthew and Dennis Katus of Bayard in their 1928 Ford Model A, with a time of one minute, 55.34 seconds.

The Unlimited Pro class had Scott and Gary Kuck of Lincoln and Raymond, Neb. in first place in their 1917 Indy Racer and a time of 6.7 seconds. Second place went to Susan and Troy Unzicker of Kimball in their 1947 Ford and a time of 16.34 seconds. Lanny Baker and Brett Page of Sioux Falls, S.D. took third place in their 1935 Studebaker Dictator and a time of 23.3 seconds.

In the Unlimited class, taking first place was Adam Baker and Joel Mashek of Sioux Falls, S.D. in their 1928 Speedster and a time of 15.6 seconds. Mary Baker and Tammy Page of Sioux Falls, S.D. took second place in their 1931 DeSoto with a time of 19 seconds. Third place went to John Kern of Colby, Kan. and J. Gordon Snow of Loveland, Colo. in their 1935 Ford Tudor and a time of 33.83 seconds.
