|Body of missing girl found, step-father in custody|

Salvador Lopez, step-father of 8-year-old Kerra Wilson, whose body was found by a rancher in Sioux County Thursday evening, has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and First Degree Sexual Assault.
The body of 8-year-old Kerra Wilson, missing since the morning of Sept. 21, has been found in a remote area of Sioux County, several miles north of Mitchell.
Kerra was reported missing Wednesday afternoon after initial reports said she was dropped off at Mitchell Elementary School at 8 a.m. but didnít show up for class. But later interviews revealed the girl couldnít be placed anywhere on the school grounds.
Late Thursday evening, a local rancher notified investigators from the FBI and the Nebraska State Patrol that an area needed to be examined. Preliminary identification of Kerra was made through physical characteristics and clothing.
The girlís stepfather, 32-year-old Salvador Carlos Lopez of Mitchell, was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder. He is currently being held at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. Formal charges are expected Friday morning in District Court.

The arraignment was also carried via video conference at Scotts Bluff County Court.
The girl was reported missing the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 21. Her body was found the late Thursday, Sept. 22 north of Mitchell, in a rural area of Sioux County.
