After review of archived scanner recordings, at approximately 3:22 p.m. Scotts Bluff County Scanner traffic indicated a train/auto accident at the 10th Street crossing in Gering near U. Street.
Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner confirmed reports that 93 year old Vera Clary's northbound car was on the railroad tracks after the crossing arms were down. Clary was struck by an East bound Union Pacific train and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witness Dee Brady said, “It looked like she had gotten trapped between the arms and didn’t know what to do.” Listen to eyewitness account(courtesy of Hometown Family Radio)
