| Leonard G. Tindell June 2, 1939 – September 19, 2011 Leonard G. Tindell, 72, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept.19, 2011, at the Hemingford Community Care Center with his wife and daughter by his side. Services celebrating his life were held Sept. 23 at First Christian Church in Scottsbluff. Interment was Sept. 24 at Cedar View Cemetery in Doniphan, Neb. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in his name to First Christian Church in Scottsbluff or Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (www.curealz.org). Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Leonard was born June 2, 1939, in LaCrosse, Kan. to Herman and Lois (Brittingham) Tindell. After many moves as a child he ended up in Scottsbluff, where he attended Scottsbluff High School and met his future wife, Connie Koehn. They were united in marriage Dec. 27, 1959. To this union, two children were born. Leonard was in the army from 1963-65 and spent most of his life working as a salesman, first for Fairmont Foods and more than 20 years with Wells Dairy (Blue Bunny) until his retirement in 2008. Leonard enjoyed woodworking, tinkering in the garage, doing anything artistic, and could fix anything. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff, and served for years in many roles: Sunday school teacher, deacon, president of the board, elder, and elder emeritus. He was active in the Jaycees and later enjoyed his involvement with the Masonic Hall in Scottsbluff. He loved being around people and his quiet, understated manner made him a friend to all. We will miss his quick wit, ready smile, infectious laugh and unwavering love. Survivors include his wife: Connie of Gering; his son: Mark Tindell, of Columbia, Mo.; his daughter: Susan (Norm) Stephenson, of Scottsbluff; grandchildren: Landis and Joseph Tindell of Tulsa, Okla. and Dustin and Mikayla Stephenson of Scottsbluff; brother: Otis Tindell of Lancaster, Calif.; and sister: Pat Pothast (Bill) of Eagle Butte, S.D. Preceding Leonard in death were his parents and four siblings. | |
