Cliff is in Heaven now visiting with his parents and relatives and playing with his great- granddaughter: Shelby Ruth Anderson.
My great-grandpa, Cliff Lovitt, was born on Aug. 6, 1936, to Claude LeRoy and Pearl (Morris) Lovitt on his parent’s farm near Huntley, Wyo., where he lived until his death. He graduated as a Huntley Cardinal in 1954, and attended college at UW in Laramie, Wyoming.
I remember him telling me a story (he loved to tell stories) about himself when he was in high school. He wasn’t much for sports, but he enjoyed track and field, like myself, and ran the dreaded mile, as I do. Often times, he was what motivated me to succeed. He couldn’t always make it to my volleyball games or track meets, but I knew he was still cheering me on from home.
He was a wonderful man; he showed love and kindness to everyone. If you met him, whether you knew him or not, he probably shared with you his wallet full of pictures of his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was so proud of us all.
He was also a brave man. He served in the Army from 1957 until he was honorably discharged in 1963.
His stories and his advice were endless. I enjoyed sitting next to him while he was drinking his coffee and telling me stories. When I was small and we were talking, I decorated his coffee cup with a sticker. That sicker is still there to this day.
I am honored to have been so close to him. I know someday, I will be able to sit beside him and hear more stories. We love you, grandpa, to which he would always reply, “Love you most, Sweetheart!” – Skyllar Michael.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife: Marian, of 42 years; his children: LeRoy (Beth) Lovitt of Jacksonville, Fla., Rod (Sheryl) Fix of Yankton, S.D., Scott (Lisa) Fix of Atkinson, Neb. and Cathy Minter of Torrington, Wyo.; grandchildren: Ryan (Lisa) Fix, Rhonda (Ryan) Olson, Sondra (Laif) Anderson, Nicholas (Katrina) Fix, Leigh Fix, Joshua Minter, Jamie (Richard) Beightol, and Samuel Lovitt; great-grandchildren: Blaine Fix, Skyllar Michael, Dharbey Beightol, Anthony Minter, Rylan, Braydon and Trayton Olson, Elloit and Ashlynn Anderson and Kyndall Fix.
