| Donald F. Johnston January 13, 1922 – January 28, 2012 Donald F. Johnston, 90, of Gering passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Heritage Estates. As per Don’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Jan. 31 at Gering Memorial Chapel with Father Kelsey Houge officiating. Military honors were provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard. Memorials are to be made to the donor’s choice in Don’s name. Tributes of sympathy maybe left at www.geringchapel.com. Don was born Jan. 13, 1922 at Scottsbluff to Lawrence D. and Lena (Green) Johnston. He received his education from Bayard Schools and graduated from Bayard High School. On Aug. 6, 1942 he married Yvonne Leary in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple made their home in the Bayard and Gering areas. Don is survived by his sister: Virginia Leseberg of Bayard; brother: David Johnston of Oakland, Calif.; nieces: Connie Smyer and Patricia Eicke; nephews: Don Johnston, Paul Leseberg and Edward Leary. Preceding him in death are his wife: Yvonne; his parents; and brother: Harvey Johnston. | |
