| Bruce M. Lichty April 17, 1939 – April 5, 2012 Bruce M. Lichty, age 72 of Gering, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his home. His graveside service was April 10 at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Military honors were provided by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. Bruce was born, April 17, 1939 in Big Springs, Neb., the son of Darrel and Louise (Burgess) Lichty. He grew up in the Big Springs area where he also received his education. He graduated from high school in 1957 and joined the Navy that same year. He served his country for four years during which time he visited many different countries. He married Janice Dierberger on May 27, 1967. To this union three children were born: Mike, Vicki and Jenny. The family lived in Gering where he worked for N.O. Nelson Company, Schwan’s Food and the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a Gering Carrier for 14 years. He retired in 2001. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He liked watching sports and playing golf. He had a great sense of humor that always brought a smile to those around him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife: Janice; son: Mike (Kerry) Lichty of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; daughters: Vicki (Erik) Laughlin of Gering and Jenny (Ty) Yeager of Gering; grandchildren: Brandon and Joslin Lichty, Blake and Tessa Brunner, Lily Laughlin, and Logan Yeager; mother: Louise Callahan; sisters: Bonnie Dancer and Shirley White; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. | |
