| Ruth R. Thompson Drawbaugh, 86 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service was June 11 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Ted Thode officiating. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Children’s Home and Panhandle Humane Society. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Ruth was born on Dec. 11, 1925 in Gering to Harvey and Helen (Wood) Hawbaker. She attended grade school and high school in Gering and graduated in 1943. She married Lloyd L. Thompson in 1947. He passed away in 1971. Ruth worked for 10 years as PBX operator at the West Nebraska General Hospital. Ruth married Harlan Drawbaugh in 1981. Ruth lived on the farm south of Gering until moving to Scottsbluff in 1988. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Scottsbluff. She taught piano lessons for a number of years and enjoyed playing the piano as well as playing at church. She is survived by her daughters: Drue Thompson of Gering and Taralyn Wernke of Gretna; grandchildren: Jason (Bridget) Thompson, Paige Thompson, Andy (Tiffany) Wernke and Casey Wernke; and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband: Lloyd Thompson; and second husband: Harlan Drawbaugh. | |
