| Barbara Jones July 10, 1941 – January 7, 2011 | |
| Barbara S. Jones, 69, of Gering, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at her home. A service was held Jan. 12 at the Gering Zion Church with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Cremation followed the service. Memorials may be given to the Gering Zion Church. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Barbara was born July 10, 1941 to Rev. William L. Goodell and Grace (Will) Goodell. She graduated as salutatorian from Falls City High School in Falls City, Neb. in 1959. She attended Phillips University in Enid, Okla. for one year where she met her future husband. Barbara married Charles L. Jones on July 2, 1960 in Enid. They made their home in several different states due to Charles’ ministry work. Wherever her husband was a pastor, she played the piano and organ, and served as a choir director. She was the greatest wife, mother and grandmother ever. She served God faithfully throughout her whole life. Her faith never wavered. She loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids and residents of Dome Rock Manor. She was a member of the Gering Zion Church. Always cheerful, even though she had several health problems, and she never complained, but lived life to the fullest. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home. Despite her health issues, her sudden death was not expected. She and her husband, Charles, shared over 50 wonderful, blessed years together. Survivors include her husband: Charles; sons: David (Shawn Marie) Jones of Ferndale, Wash. and Allan (Kathleen) Jones of Awendaw, S.C.; daughters: Kathy Middleton of Bridgeport and Karen (Loren) Moench of Gering; 17 grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Koehler of Iowa and Virginia Kern of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. | |
