SB High presents ‘The Laramie Project’

On Tuesday, Nov. 24, Scottsbluff High School will be presenting what we hope to be an annual event; The SHS Fall Play Festival. This year, there are four schools participating: Harrisburg, Morrill, Alliance and Scottsbluff. The schedule is as follows:

  • 5 p.m. Harrisburg – Aunt Maggiety’s Dark and Stormy Night
  • 6 p.m. Morrill – The Haunted Carousel
  • 7 p.m. Alliance – “Romeo, You Idiot”
  • 8 p.m. Scottsbluff - “The Laramie Project”

Cost for the evening is $5 for adults and $4 for students. Passes will not be accepted. The public is invited to attend all four productions, however, the doors will be open between each play for admittance. Each play is approximately 30 minutes in length and cannot exceed that time limit for competition. The SHS Fall Play Festival’s purpose is to have each team practice setting up and tearing down their sets in 15 minutes, get oral critiques (feedback) from three judges after their performance in order to prepare them for district competition and finally, provide an entertaining evening for the public.

Scottsbluff’s One Act team consists of 41 students and is directed by Kara Rada with the help of Linda Meininger as assistant director.
Money made from admission to the Fall Play Festival will help defray the cost of traveling (hotel costs and meals) to Grand Island for district competition and hopefully Kearney for the state competition.

There may be another performance on Dec. 1, depending on community interest.
