| Marjorie Pappas Shassetz December 27, 1919 – May 9, 2013 Marjorie Pappas Shassetz of Scottsbluff passed away and has gone on to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 9, 2013 after a stroke. Her funeral service was May 14 at The Rock Church in Scottsbluff with Phillip Palser, Barry Palser and Tyson Lambertson officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the family. The family of Marjorie Shassetz wishes to thank Dugan-Kramer and The staff and family of The Rock for their kindness and assistance during this difficult time for those of us who will miss Marj, but rejoice in her newfound freedom to fly high with golden tipped, silver wings of glory... and yes accented with her own special celestial bling. Marj was born in Butte, Mont. on Dec. 27, 1919 to George and Rose (Tierre) Pappas. She graduated from high school in Hanna, Wyo. and continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree and taught as a Cosmetology Instructor with the University of California, working with the likes of Vidal Sassoon. Marj was married to Archie Henry Shassetz, and ultimately adopted an Alaskan Native, David Lee Shassetz, her lifelong devoted son. Marj worked as a cosmetologist and beautician for her whole life until she retired. She enjoyed touring America and was always sewing, knitting and crocheting blankets, coats and other wonderful gifts for her family and friends. He was also actively involved in whatever church she happened to be near. Marjorie is survived by her son: David L. Shassetz of Austin, Texas (USN Veteran); granddaughter: Kimberley A. Hancock of San Diego, Calif.; grandson: David J. Shassetz of Rocklin, Calif. (USAF Veteran); granddaughter: Samantha R. Shassetz of Glendale, Ariz.; and her step-granddaughter: Brandi M. Lunsford of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and step-granddaughter Erica C. Lunsford of Glendale, Ariz.; great-granddaughter: Lilly A. Hancock and step-great-granddaughter: Haleigh Lunsford; and sisters: Helen A. Palser of Scottsbluff and Victorine Palser of Eau Claire, Wis.; numerous nieces and nephews, and host of other family and thousands of friends. Marjorie is preceded in death by her loving husband: Archie Shassetz; brother: George Pappas; brother-in-law: Everett Palser; and her parents. | |

| Margaret Louise Ellis April 27, 1923 – May 7, 2013 Margaret Louise Ellis, 90 of Gering, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center. Her memorial service was May 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Gering with Rev. Lauren Ekdahl officiating. A private family inurnment was at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place. Margaret was born on April 27, 1923 in Bayard, the daughter of Ira C. and Hattie May (Martin) Blackburn. She graduated from Bayard High School and attended college to renew her teaching certificate. She married Harold “Hap” Ellis on Nov. 8, 1947 in Scottsbluff. Margaret started as a bookkeeper for Inter City Lumber, later for Cal Lenhardt CPA, Midwec, Carr Trumbull Lumber Mitchell and West Nebraska General Hospital. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a past member of the BPW, where she served as President and Secretary. She was a foster grandparent and served on their board. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, playing cards and computer work. She loved her family and will be sadly missed. Survivors include her children: Dianne Coffman of Westminster Colo., Jerry Ellis of Billings, Mont. and Tim Ellis of North Hollywood, Calif.; sister: Wanda Segner of Friend, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: “Hap” Ellis; and brother: Ronald Blackburn. | |

| Donald W. Baily January 19, 1934 – May 6, 2013 On May 6, 2013 Donald W. Baily, 79, of Scottsbluff left this earth in the arms of his grandson to be forever joined in eternity with his son, Jeff. His funeral service was May 9 at Mitchell Berean Church, with Pastor Troy Allen, Reverend Roger Lane and Pastor Bob Haverick officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, with Military Honors rendered by the Nebraska National Guard. Memorials can be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Don was born Jan. 19, 1934 in Mitchell to John S. and Katherine (Grief) Baily. Don served in the Air Force and retired with the Army National Guard. He raised his family alongside Marilyn, at Baily’s Bicycle and Key Shop and later at the brother’s family grocery store Baily Town and Country. Don and Marilyn spent the last 12 years as fulltime RVer’s traveling the country. They loved being campground hosts in Colorado, Kentucky and Texas and have made many great friends along the way, that they so cherish. The legacy of his life lives on with his wife of 57 years: Marilyn (Pierson); sons: Don (Melody) Baily and Bruce (Terri) Baily; daughters: Denise (Kevin) Skipworth and Jennifer (Troy) Svoboda. The journey moving forward for Don’s family will be enjoyed with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: DJ (Kristen) Baily, Jeremy and Jamie Baily, Michael and Carter Baily, Timmy Baily, Daniel (Julie Ann) Baily, Michelle Baily, Greg (Brandi) Baily, Kadie and Lexi Baily, A.J. Leonhardt, Skyler Baily, Katie, Sarah, Rebecca and Jessica Svoboda; brother: Bruce (Virginia) Baily; sister: Betty Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of which will miss him so.
