| William McDermott January 14, 1927 – May 17, 2013 William “Bill” McDermott, 86, of Bridgeport died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport. Funeral services were May 22 at Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Broadwater with military honors by the U. S. Navy. Bill was born January 14, 1927 in Eastwood Precinct NE in Broadwater to William J. and Ethel (Anderson) McDermott. He attended grade school in Eastwood Country School and graduated from High School in Broadwater in 1944. While in high school Bill was class president for two years and was always active in all sports and was one of Broadwater’s outstanding athletes. He was a member of the junior play cast and very capably proved his ability as an actor. He had enough credits to graduate at the end of the first semester and he withdrew from school. He entered the US Navy in January 1945 and entered Aviation Machinist School in Norman, Okla. He was honorably discharged in April 1946. Bill returned to farm on the home place from 1946 until the present time. He married Barbara Spears in May 16, 1948 at Lisco, Neb. To this union five children were born. He was rural mail carrier at Broadwater from 1966-1975 and was transferred to Kimball as a carrier from 1975-1987. He retired to Bridgeport in 1987. After his retirement, he was a crop adjuster with Columbia and Blakely in Nebraska and Wyoming till the year 2000. He had a passion for his Irish Heritage, hunting and golf, loved his family dearly and enjoyed visiting with friends. He had a deep faith in his Savior. Survivors include his wife: Barbara, children: Cyndia (John) Kitt of San Antonio, Texas, William Patrick (Tajah) McDermott of La Grande, Ore., Andrea (Ken) Fields of Phoenix, Ariz., Adina (Mike) Bauer of San Tan, Ariz. and John (Carla) McDermott of Eagle River, Alaska; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Ann Adams; and brother: Dan McDermott. | |

| Irene Hoffman December 24, 1918 – May 17, 2013 Irene Hoffman, 94, of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully May 17, 2013, in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 24 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Zion Evangelical Church, or your favorite charity. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Irene was born Dec. 24, 1918, in Scottsbluff, and she has been a lifelong resident in Scottsbluff. Through the years, the family lived in several farms and homes in Scottsbluff. Irene met and then married the love of her life, John, Feb. 6, 1938, in Harrisburg. In 1981, John and Irene built a new house on Monument Valley Drive in Gering, a dream come true for them. At one time they owned Bluff View Grocery, then later built Twin City Pack, where they worked side by side, John the butcher and Irene the meat wrapper. She always worked very hard, from the time she was old enough to help in the beet fields alongside her mother. But she was never too busy to cook for her family. She was an awesome baker, and excelled in the original German dishes. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church. Irene’s grandchildren made her life complete. Then arrived the great-grandchildren that she adored. Irene had a passion for crocheting and knitting beautiful afghans. She loved being outside with her plants and flowers. Irene will be missed by all of us and always in our hearts, never forgotten. A mother’s love is always in bloom. The family would like to thank everyone at The Village and Golden Living Center for their wonderful care of Irene. Irene is survived by her two sons: J Stanley (Jann Cheairs) and Norman H. (Sherry Pentico); grandchildren: Holly (Scott Steel), John (Molly), Greg (Polly), Scott (Jo) and Patrick (Tiffany); great-grandchildren: Erika, Brooks, Jasmine, twins Elizabeth and Sara, Claire, Audrey, plus Cassandra, and Olivia; sister: Ruth Feagler of Scottsbluff; brothers: Henry Feagler and Dave Feagler (Sandra) of Torrington, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: John Hoffman July 29, 1997; her parents: Henry and Molly Feagler; sister: Lydia Keller; brothers: Lawrence and Leroy Feagler. | |

| Michael Lee Todd October 16, 1984 – May 16, 2013 Michael Lee Todd, 28, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at his home. Memorial services were May 20, 2013 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Andy Griess officiating. A private family inurnment was held at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Michael was born Oct. 16, 1984 in Scottsbluff to Jerry and Linda (Relka) Todd. He grew up and attended schools in Scottsbluff, graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 2003. Michael was employed as a researcher at Title Express in Scottsbluff. Michael enjoyed playing golf, bowling, shooting pool and singing karaoke. He enjoyed performing magic; learning from his friend Doc. Michael was a passionate Nebraska Football Fan. He was a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska. Mike always had a joke – sometimes not funny, but always a joke. He is survived by his parents: Jerry and Linda Todd; siblings: Stacy (Larry Addison) Bliss of Greeley, Colo., Eric (Liz) Darnall of Thornton, Colo., Brenda (Jason) Fulk of Gering and Brady Todd of Scottsbluff; grandparents: Steve Todd of Scottsbluff and Gloria Relka of Scottsbluff; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his dog: Thelma.
