| Myron C. Brester November 11, 1938 – February 24, 2012 Myron C. “Sonny” Brester, 73, of Scottsbluff, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at his home. A memorial service was held Feb. 28 at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastors Dale Brown and Dr. Charles Richardson officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the United States Navy. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice, Festival of Hope and Salem Congregational Church. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Sonny was born Nov. 11, 1938 in Scottsbluff to George and Mollie (Brown) Brester. He attended and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. He entered the Navy Jan. 12, 1956 and was honorably discharged Oct. 19, 1959. He married Colleen Larimer June 18, 1960 in Hot Springs, S.D. Sonny managed Bluffs 66 Station for one-and-a-half years before moving to California. He returned to Scottsbluff in 1967 and opened the Gulf Service Station in partnership with Jack Schmidt. In October 1972 he opened Sonny’s Bike Shop and sold it to his son, JR Brester, in January 2004 when he retired. He is survived by his wife: Colleen C. Brester; daughter: Soni (Rick) Smith of Gering; son: JR (Angie) Brester of Gering; grandchildren: Derek Smith (Anee Fullerton, fiancé) of Longmont, Colo., Nicole “Nikki” Smith of Gering, Justin, Brenden, Sydnee and Carlee Brester of Gering; sisters: Joyce Kosel of Gering, Darlene (Lawren) Schumaker of California and Betty Mason of Michigan; beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Mollie Brester; and in-laws: Mickey and Tip Tuepker. | |
