| Howard H. McCormick February 8, 1918 – March 7, 2012 Howard H. “Bud” McCormick, 94, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. At his request cremation has taken place and inurnment will be at a later time at Plum Creek Cemetery in Lewellen, Neb. Memorials have been established to the Panhandle Humane Society or to the donor’s choice. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Howard was born Feb. 8, 1918 in Lewellen, Neb. to A. J. and Jennie M. (Orr) McCormick. He graduated from Lewellen Rural High School in 1934. He farmed from 1934 until he entered the U. S. Army on Aug. 7, 1941. Bud served as a Grasshopper Pilot and was honorable discharged Dec. 31, 1945. He returned to Lewellen where he farmed and ranched until retiring in 1975. He married Marge Taylor in November of 1949. They moved to Scottsbluff in 1984. Howard was a member of the American Legion of Lewellen and the Elks Lodge of Ogallala. He loved to tell tall tales and was president of the local Liars Club. He is survived by his brothers: Pike (Norma) McCormick of Lewellen and Larry (Doris) McCormick of Torrington, Wyo.; sisters: Jean McCormick of Oshkosh, Neb. and Stella McCormick of Denver, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his wife: Marge; daughters: Glenda Campbell and Gloria Lounsbery; parents; sisters: Doris Tilgner and Elizabeth Beard; brother: Duke McCormick; and nephew: Terry McCormick. | |
