| Neta Jean Young September 4, 1924 – March 6, 2012 Neta Jean Young, 77, of Scottsbluff, died unexpectedly March 6, 2012 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colo. A burial Mass officiated by the Rt. Rev. James Krotz and the Rev. Kelsey Hogue was held March 9 at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials have been established to St. Francis Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff and Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Mitchell. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Neta was born Sept. 4, 1934 in Valentine, Neb. along with her twin sister Neva to Harley Van and Alice (Hoyt) Smith. Neta graduated from Scottsbluff High School with the class of 1952. She enjoyed being a Bearcat Cheerleader with her sister Neva. Neta enjoyed lifelong friendships with her classmates. She married Gary Reid Young on June 12. 1952. They have two children: son Chris Reid Young of Havre, Mont. and daughter Jill Lynette Young of Scottsbluff. Neta and her family have been members of the Episcopal Church for over 50 years. She served as a Head Start Volunteer, Meals on Wheels, and a member of PEO Chapter M of Omaha. She enjoyed antique auctions and collecting crystal. Neta will always be remembered for her kind, caring, and generous heart. She saw only the good in people and believed each and everyone deserved a second chance. She loved flowers, decorating, and wearing bright colors. She made this world a more beautiful place and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Neta is survived by her husband: Gary; son: Chris (Barbi); daughter: Jill (Lorrie); granddaughters: Kelsen of Helena, Mont., Kristen of Bellingham, Wash.; step grandsons: Zechariah, Jeremy, and Christopher; sister: Cindi Colerick; and brother: Harley (Carlene) Smith of Scottsbluff; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Neta was preceded in death by her twin sister: Neva (Smith) Jones; her parents; sisters: Rita Miller, Karin (Mel) Green; brother: Norman; and nephew: Maurice Eshom. | |
