| Hubert L. Nichols September 21, 1920 – March 16, 2012 Hubert L. Nichols, 91 of Gering, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at Heritage Estates in Gering. His memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Nichols officiating. Private family graveside service will be at West Lawn Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Melbeta United Methodist Church. Hubert was born on Sept. 21, 1920 in Ansley, Neb. to Arthur and Vera (Barr) Nichols. He attended high school in Bayard. Hubert was united in marriage to Gladys Blome on Sept. 18, 1941 in Rockwall, Texas. To this union two children were born: Beverly and Scott. Hubert lived in the valley all of his married life. He was a farmer, cattle feeder, trucker and dairy farmer. He was a member of the Melbeta United Methodist Church, where he was an officer of the church board and he taught Sunday school. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau and was on the Melbeta School Board for 18 years. “My journey is over I’m going home.” Survivors include his wife: Gladys; daughter: Beverly Nichols; brothers: Darrell Nichols and Leonard Nichols; sister: Dee Nichols; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Scott Nichols; brothers: J.L. Nichols, Orville Nichols, Loren Nichols; and sister: Lillian Gilleland. | |
