| Hazel Isabel Warren March 15, 1913 – March 19, 2012 FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Hazel Isabel Embree Warren, 99, died, Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies in Fort Collins, Colo. A graveside service was March 26 at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ, 1245 Five Rocks Road, PO Box 557, Gering, NE 69341. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Hazel was born March 15, 1913 to John and Ursula Embree in a boxcar that had been converted to the Embree family home near the old railroad roundhouse in Gering. Her father, John, was an engineer for the Union Pacific. Hazel attended the first Oregon Trail Days with her father when she was 8. She attended Scottsbluff High School and graduated from Gering High School in 1931. She married Roy, “Bud” Warren and was the mother of three children: Donna Jean, who preceded her in death, Mary Lou and Richard. Hazel worked at the telephone company as an operator and as a dispatcher for the Gering Police Department. She was a past president of the Rebekahs, a member of the Art Guild and a member of the Central Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, playing cards, painting in oils, water colors and china painting, flower arranging and various craft projects. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Lou Pike and husband Herbert of Bedford, Mass., and son: Richard Warren and wife Charlee of Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren: Stewart Sutton and wife Miki, Richard Sutton, Susan Hodder and husband Thomas, Donna Godjikian and husband Frank, Lisa Pike, Neil Pike and wife Susan, Gregory Pike and wife Robin, Andrea Cleveland and husband Brian, and Casey Warren; great-grandchildren: Kristin Hodder, Kimberly Hodder, Jillian Hodder, Remi Sutton, Kyara Sutton, Michael Godjikian and wife Emily, Brian Godjikian, Danielle Godjikian, Leanne Pike, Robert Pike, Jane Pike, Zachary Sutton Lauren Pike, Alexander Pike, Isabelle Warren, Makena Cleveland, Maxstan Cleveland and great-great-granddaughter: Erin Godjikian. She was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Warren; daughter: Donna Sutton; two sisters: Cyrena Hubbard and Evalou Detlefsen; and brother: Leonard Embree. | |
