| Duane Alden Nikont February 16, 1933 – April 18, 2012 Duane Alden Nikont, 79, of Mitchell passed away Wednesday, April 18 2012 at his home. Funeral services were April 23 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with The Reverend Dr. Larry Spomer officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Calvary Lutheran Church. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Duane was born Feb. 16, 1933 in Alliance to Theodore and Gladys (Miller) Nikont. He received his early education in Hemingford and graduated from Curtis High School. He married Marjorie Phelps on June 26, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alliance. The couple made their home in the Scottsbluff-Gering area. Duane was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, BPOE 1327, and American Legion Post # 36. Duane loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed reading, gardening and always had a project to keep him busy. Duane is survived by his wife: Marjorie; sons: Brett (Sherri) Nikont of Buffalo, Wyo. and Kurt (Leah) Nikont of Scottsbluff; grandchildren: Corey, Coty, Allison, Cami and fiancé Charlie Cunningham, Blake, Brock and Bailey; great-grandson: Trenton; and brother: Dean Nikont. Proceeding him in death are his parents; brothers: Theodore Jr. and Theron; and sister: Mardell. | |
