| Lydia Schultz October 11, 1919 – April 16, 2012 Lydia Schultz, 92, of Morrill, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service was April 20 at Morrill Methodist Church in Morrill with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment followed in the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials have been established to the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and to the family. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com Lydia was born on Oct. 11, 1919, in Alliance to Fred and Louise (Blume) Brown. Lydia graduated from Alliance High School and Omaha Business College. After meeting the love of her life at a USO Dance in Alliance, Lydia married Earl W. Schultz of Kellogg, Iowa on Aug. 26, 1944. They made their home in Bayard, Gering and Morrill. Lydia was owner of Oregon Trail Ceramics for over 40 years. After she retired she became assistant librarian for Morrill Grade School. She was a Camp Fire Leader for her daughter in the 1970s and granddaughter in the 1990s, and a Den Mother for her son’s Boy Scouts. She is a member of the Panhandle Doll Club and a 35-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Morrill. Lydia was the backbone of the auxiliary and will be sadly missed. Survivors include her daughter: Denise Sinner (Ken Way) of Morrill; daughter-in-law: Christine Schultz of Ankeny, Iowa; granddaughters: Katheryn Noon (Shawn) of Morrill, Dawn (Dan) Canova of Polk City, Iowa and Megann Schultz of Milo, Iowa; grandson: Matthew Schultz of Council Bluffs, Iowa; great-grandsons: Aidan Noon of Morrill and Connor Canova; great-granddaughters: Paige and Taitlyn Canova of Polk City, Iowa; sisters: Ruth Beckmark of Phoenix, Ariz. and Sharron Brown-Zimmer of Morrill; and brother: Fred Brown of Morrill. She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Gary Schultz; sisters: Louise Frost of Independence, Mo., Helen O’Neal of Holdrege, Neb. and Margueritte and Freida Brown of Morrill. ASch | |
