| Gale L. Fix January 4, 1924 – May 7, 2012 Gale L. Fix, 88, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at his home. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 10 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Curtis Holzworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with military honors provided by the United States Navy. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Gale was born Jan. 4, 1924, at Bird City, Kan. to Elmer and Blanche (Sawyer) Fix. His family moved to a ranch near Amelia, Neb. when he was still a baby. He joined the United States Navy in the fall of 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in the spring of 1947. He married Myrtha Prewitt Nov. 24, 1947, and they moved to Scottsbluff in the fall of 1948. Five children were born to this union. Survivors include his wife: Myrtha Fix; daughter: Shelia (Buzz) Larreau of Minatare; sons: Gaylen (Sharon) Fix of Mitchell, Larry (Tanya) Fix of Mitchell, and Roger Fix of Scottsbluff; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister: Leone Slaymaker; and his best friend for 80 years: Ralph Barns. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Daniel Lee Fix; brother: Lyle Fix; and grandchild: Shannon Laree Bartle. | |
