| Wilbert “Will” L. Zeiler, 79 of Scottsbluff, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center. His funeral service was June 4 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Rev. Dr. Bradley Brauer officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with military honors provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard. Memorials may be given to the North Platte Historical Society or donor’s choice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Will was born on Aug. 23, 1932 in Gering to Casper and Lydia (Schwindt) Zeiler. He received his education in Scottsbluff and attended college in Casper, Wyo. He entered the Nebraska National Guard on Sept. 23, 1947 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 22, 1950. He was united in marriage to Doris Reeve on Dec. 9, 1950 in Scottsbluff. He worked for the Northern Utilities as a warehouse manager in Casper, Wyo., retiring in 1979. They returned to Gering were they have resided until his death. Will was an active member of the Kiwanis in Casper, member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Casper and Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Survivors include his wife: Doris Zeiler; children: Vicky Kerr of Chicago, Ill., Larry Zeiler of Ft. Washakie, Wyo., Terry Horne of Midvale, Utah and Lydia Myers (who was named after Wilbert’s mother) of Tonto Basin, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister: Linda Olson of Denver, Colo. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother: Lydia Rexus; father: Casper Zeiler; grandson and 15 brothers and sisters. | |
