| Virgie Joyce (Soule) Brown, 85, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her home in Gretna, Neb. Cremation has been held. Memorial services were June 2 at Calvary Memorial Evangelical Free Church in Gering with Pastor Ken Boston officiating. A graveside service was held at Sunset Memorial Park prior to the service. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Research. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Virgie was born on Dec. 13, 1926 to Floyd and Ruby (Hanks) Soule in Bushnell, Neb. She attended school in Bushnell and Banner County. She was united in marriage to Eldon”Cork” Brown on Jan. 24, 1945 in Kansas. The couple made their home on their farm in Banner County. Virgie was a beautiful landscaper-gardener and home decorator. She sewed every grandchild and great-grandchild a quilt. Virgie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a member of Wrights Project Club many years. She played cards and enjoyed the Nebraska Huskers and Colorado Rockies with Cork. She always had a great sense of humor that kept us all laughing. Survivors include her children: Carol Greathouse of Lincoln, Sharon (Cal) Bancroft of Valentine, Linda (Ken) Lorenz of Omaha, Rod (Peg) Brown of Omaha, Curt (Tracy) Brown of Omaha; grandchildren: Caryn (Scott) Long of Lyman, Lisa Greathouse of Lincoln, Lori (Derick) Vick of Lincoln, Matt (Kelly) Greathouse of Doniphan, Scott (Melissa) Bancroft of Valentine, Mel Bancroft of Lincoln, Sean (Renee) Faden of Lincoln, Kim (Glen) McClendon of Portland, Ore., Todd (Krista) Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alan (Cindy) Spangler of O’Neil, Tim (Tammy) Spangler of Wahoo, Andrew Brown and Mike Brown of Omaha, 31 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Marvin (Carolyn) Soule of Brush, Colo.; and sister-in-laws: Norma Soule of Banner County, Alberta Brown and Betty Gerhard both of Scottsbluff. She was preceded in death by her husband; grandchild: Tracy Tackett; great-grandchild: Brittany Tackett; three brothers: Glen, Bill and Floyd Soule Jr.; and sisters: Florence Caldwell and Opal Woods). | |
