| Christine Leikam June 20. 1917 – July 20, 2012 Christine Leikam, 95, of Scottsbluff, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service was July 24 at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be at the Bayard Cemetery at a later time. Memorials in Christine’s honor may be made in care of the church. Online condolences may be left at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements. Christine was born on June 20, 1917 in Berthoud, Colo. to George Sr. and Madelina (Kilthau) Maul. She came to the valley when she was 2 and attended school at Fairview 34 and Sunflower. She married Henry D. Leikam at Bayard on July 13, 1935. To this union three children were born: Jerry, Rosetta and Allan. She was employed at Ben Franklin and Cheatums in Scottsbluff after her husband Henry passed away. Her hobbies included gardening which produced her prized petunias, irises and phlox. She crocheted many Afghans and doilies which were handed down to her children. She was a long time member of Salem Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Friendly Circle and a Reach Out group. Christine was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and her family loved her. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Golden Living for their loving care and also offer a special thank you to Pastor Don and Betty Jo Mathis and Pastor Dale and Jan Brown for their compassionate concern for our mother. She is survived by her children: Jerry(JoAnn) Leikam of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Rosetta (Jim) Nuss of Gering and Allan (Violet) Leikam of Alpharetta, Ga.; grandchildren: Cindy (Scott) Randall of Alliance, Mark (Kelly) Leikam of Parker, Colo. Jana Leikam of Alpharetta, Ga., Craig (Allison) Leikam of Aurora, Colo. and David (Jen) Leikam of Ball Ground, Ga.; great-grandchildren: Tyler Leikam, Taylor Randall, Cole Randall, Benjamin Leikam, Christina, Andrew and Jessica Leikam and Cooper Leikam; nieces, nephews and sister: Helen Eisenbarth of Utah. Her parents; husband: Henry in 1972; three brothers and six sisters preceded her in death. | |
