Gering track teams ready for district challenge

Torrington — The Gering Bulldog boys’ and girls’ track teams racked up ten medals, including seven Gold at the 21st Annual Jim Wiseman Invitational in Torrington, Wyo. on May 4. Other teams competing included, Cheyenne Central, Torrington, Cheyenne East, Wheatland, Glenrock, Cheyenne South, Guernsey, Lingle-Ft. Laramie and Chugwater.

In the boys division, Danny O’Boyle once again clipped the 50 second barrier with a win at 49.79 in the 400 and teammates Ryan Schwartzkopf and Norman Red Bear finished right behind him at second and third to sweep the event.

In the relay events, Gering once again excelled with the tandem of Dillon Wademan, Schwartzkopf, Dillon DeMott, and O’Boyle to win the 4x400 in 3:25.74 and the 4x800 team consisting of Ryan Bustinza, Aaron Pierce, Darrin Gonzales and Kyle Peters ran the relay in 8:32.66 for the gold medal.

Zac Bibb won the High Jump soaring 6’0 and was second in the Long Jump with a mark of 20’ ¼. Teammate Dillon Wademan was only ¾ inch behind in third place. Wademan also took the silver medal in the Triple Jump marking at 40’6. Kyle Gaudreault vaulted to his personal best this year at 12’9 taking second place at the meet.

In the girls division, Chelsea Wickard won the Hurdles in 46.10 while teammate Morgan Broussard got fifth place at 48.34.
Stephanie Coley won the Discus tossing it 115’4 and finished second in the Shot Put, going 38’3. Morgan Greene jumped her personal best at 5’4 to take home the gold in the High Jump. In the relays, Kenzie Duncan, Dakota Gellner, Damaris Martinez and Kali Rimington ran 10:23.96 to edge out Cheyenne East for second place in the 4x800.
